Frankenstein
A este livro foram associados outros 6 livros/contos: The Sorrows of Young Werther de Johann Wolfgang van Goethe, The Last Man de Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Tell Tale Heart de Edgar Allan Poe, The Island of Doctor Moreau de H.G. Wells, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde de Robert Louis Stevenson.

Nowadays it is inevitable for books to be subjugated to the digital format, we cannot ignore this new way of reading, but we can try to build bridges between the traditional physical medium and the emerging digital medium. This book takes the concept of hyperlink
and transposes it to a printed object, by joining several chapters of different literary works in one object and creating reading paths (non-consecutive and linear). The main book chosen was Frankenstein by Mary Shelley — a work centered around a creature made up of pieces of other creatures. 6 other books / short stories were associated with this book:The Sorrows of Young Werther by Johann Wolfgang van Goethe, The Last Man by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe, The Island of Doctor Moreau by HG Wells,The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. The association was established through common themes shared between them all (love, the relationship between creature and creator, decline of the creation, regret and guilt, scientific experimentation and the monster/man duality). Formato A5, coptic biding done manually by me. |

CANDIDE OR THE OPTIMISM |
Design and layout of Voltaire's book: Candide or the Optimism. The book is intended to demonstrate the degradation of the main character's mentality,
as he gets to know the world, and his awareness of reality. At the same time, always bearing in mind his, to some extent, unwavering optimism (through the use of green for text and other elements). Format: 10x18cm, manual binding and dust jacket in tracing paper. |
Future Codex
(Formato: aproximadamente A5) |
FUTURE CODEX |
What will books look like in the future?
Future Codex is a possible metamorphosis of the book, as an object that can currently be printed on paper or made available digitally. In the future will it remain as a physical object? If so, will the paper continue to reign supreme almost as a single media, or may new media emerge? All these questions are posed in this project that aims to present possible outcomes for the future of the book. (Format: approximately an A5) |
